It’s no surprise that SAP has ambitious plans for its SAP Business One (SAP B1) ERP system—after all, the results speak for themselves. With over 82,000 customers, more than 1.2 million active users, and implementations in over 170 countries, this ERP solution for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has become a global standard. In Romania, System Innovation Romania is the leading SAP Business One partner and one of over 850 certified partners providing consultancy, implementation, and app development for the platform.

Back in March, SAP announced its roadmap for 2025–2027, promising many enhancements. Let’s take a look at the features introduced in the SAP Business One 10.0 Feature Package (FP) 2502 and explore the main development directions SAP plans to pursue over the next three years.

What’s New in SAP Business One 10.0 FP 2502?

The latest Feature Package brought innovations focused on these key areas:

  • Identity and Authentication Management: Users can now log into SAP Business One via an Identity Provider (IdP), both on-premise and in the cloud (via the Cloud Control Center). Two-factor authentication (2FA) can also be enabled for stronger protection against unauthorized access.
  • SAP Business One Web Client: SAP B1 offers both a modern Web Client, designed with the SAP Fiori interface for a pleasant browser experience, and the classic “Fat Client,” preferred by power users for its full functionality and high performance. Users are free to choose whichever best fits their workflow.
  • Analytics: The latest version includes advanced dashboard and analytics capabilities within SAP B1 (object-centered analytics, user-defined queries, general overview, linked views, etc.), significantly improving reporting and adding AI-powered features.
  • UI API Framework: Starting with 10.0 FP 2405, the Web Client now includes a UI API framework that allows custom extensions. Thanks to a Visual Studio Code plugin and the Web Client Inspector extension, users can tailor the interface and optimize workflows.

SAP Business One 2025–2027: What’s Ahead?

SAP has outlined the main development directions and investment areas for the next three years, providing a clear picture of how the platform will evolve.

  1. A More Capable Web Client

SAP aims to bring the Web Client up to full parity with the desktop client. This will drive more hybrid deployments, promote subscription-based licensing models, and support smoother integrations with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), thanks to Web Client and HANA Cloud improvements.

  1. Integration Becomes Critical

In today’s digital world, everything needs to connect. SAP B1 is prioritizing connectivity through:

  • API-first architecture for easier third-party integrations
  • Improved compatibility with eCommerce, CRM, and logistics platforms
  • Support for iPaaS tools (e.g., Codeless Platforms, Make, Zapier) to streamline cross-system workflows

SAP also plans to strengthen SAP Business One’s integration with the SAP Business Technology Platform and expand Web Client capabilities, offering a more intuitive design to support customer growth.

  1. Smarter Through AI and Automation

SAP Business One will become even “smarter” in 2025 with the integration of AI and machine learning for day-to-day operations—from automating financial forecasting to intelligent inventory management. Expect to see more tools like B1UP and Process Automation designed to increase efficiency.

  1. Security and Compliance First

With evolving regulations such as GDPR, NIS 2, and DORA, businesses are seeking ERP solutions that ensure compliance without compromise. SAP B1 is stepping up with:

  • Advanced data encryption
  • Stricter user access controls
  • Enhanced audit and traceability functions

SAP Business One 11 Coming in 2027

The next major version, SAP Business One 11, is scheduled for release in 2027. It will usher in a new era for the ERP solution, with additional functionality rolled out in future feature packages based on partner and customer feedback. To ensure a smooth transition, version 11 will run in parallel with version 10 for a period of time.

Key highlights of version 11 include:

  • Improved Lifecycle Management: simplified installations, automated updates, and containerization support
  • A unified System Landscape Directory (SLD) for both cloud and on-premise environments
  • A next-generation Cloud Operation Center, managed by SAP B1 partners
  • Strengthened authentication systems, including SSO, MFA, and modern login methods
  • Native integration with popular cloud storage solutions (SharePoint, Google Drive, OneDrive)
  • Extended Web Client functionality
  • Open support for intelligent solution extensions by SAP B1 partners
