One of the advantages of SAP Business One is that the system is continuously developed and improved, with SAP investing millions of euros in innovation. Last year, SAP Business One received two updates, and companies upgrading to version 10.0 with feature package 2208 (FP2208) will benefit from many new features, from single sign-on and extended functionality in the web client to integration with SAP Product Footprint Carbon Management.

The list of updates is very long, but we have summarized the most important ones:

  1. New facilities for authentication and identity management. SAP Business One now allows integration with an Identity and Authentication Management (IAM) solution. With the help of a third-party provider, users can benefit from single-sign-on, a security feature that allows access to multiple applications or websites with a single password. It allows centralized administration of all SAP Business One user accounts in the organization and has improved the allocation of licenses and access rights for users.
  2. Support for sustainability. The SAP Product Footprint Management solution is now integrated into SAP Business One and helps calculate the carbon footprint of any product or service in a simple and fast way based on transactional data existing in the ERP system. Read more about this in the dedicated post: SAP solution for sustainability and carbon footprint measurement.
  3. The web client has improved integration with Microsoft Teams. The integration is older, but now in the dedicated Teams tab (only if the organization has integration with Microsoft Teams), more elements can be viewed, from purchase orders and product returns to material lists and service contracts.
  4. New visual theme for the web client. It’s called Horizon Visual Theme and allows for better customization of the workspace, at the level of colors and fields. Additionally, the web client allows the opening of any attached documents and adding them via drag and drop.
  5. New functionalities for Sales and Purchases. They allow copying of content, viewing and editing of specific documents, confirming the date and user for a particular offer or order, creating interaction diagrams between sales and purchasing documents, etc.
6. Multiple email sharing options for payment-associated documents (link or PDF, if Crystal Report is also used), especially for accounts integrated with Microsoft 365.
  7. New functions in the web interface associated with the Production module. Detailed searches, filtering and viewing for material lists, production orders, execution proofs, etc., are allowed. It is also possible to create interaction diagrams between these elements.
  8. Service-type contracts can now be created, viewed and approved from the web interface. They can be created based on templates or manually and can be correlated with all associated operations.
  9. In the Human Resources module, the display of employee names is much more flexible, and the web client displays these details as they are registered in the system.
  10. New options for monitoring transports for Intrastat. In Intrastat Wizard, it is now possible to allocate the country of origin of the transport for any of the goods.

As we mentioned at the beginning of this post, the advantage of using an SAP ERP system is not only the international footprint but also the constant pace at which the German company improves its solutions portfolio.
