System Innovation Romania recently participated in the 2024 edition of the SAP Partner Summit in Madrid, the most important event dedicated to SAP solutions for SMEs. The meeting had an impressive agenda and attendance, but the highlight was SAP’s announcements regarding the development directions of SAP Business One. For current and future users of SAP Business One, the news is good: SAP has long-term plans to develop the ERP system, making it richer in functionality as well as simpler and more intuitive. The main updates involve the addition of Generative Artificial Intelligence elements and the expansion of capabilities in the web interface.<\/p>\n

SAP Business One has a lifespan of at least 10 years<\/h2>\n

SAP management confirmed through its most authoritative voices the direction and strategy for SAP Business One for at least the next 10 years. The messages demonstrated a firm commitment and substantial investments in the solution. According to the data presented, SAP Business One is the solution that generates the highest number of new clients for SAP and represents SAP’s top offering for the SME segment. Oliver Bahner, Senior Vice President and Head of Midmarket & Ecosystem Success at SAP, clearly stated, \u201cWe are preparing SAP Business One for the next ten years, investing in the product\u2019s essential functionalities to drive digital transformation and cloud migration.” These investments are motivated by the consistent growth of SAP Business One across all levels and the existence of an extensive user community on all continents.<\/p>\n

SAP Business One web client becomes the main mode of access<\/h2>\n

SAP announced that it will continue to focus on the web client of SAP Business One, which will receive more and more functionalities. Already, the most significant actions can be performed through the web client. It benefits from an entirely new interface, built from scratch with a modern UI for use in the latest browsers, yet offering the same functionality and power as the desktop client. The analysis and reporting area will be enriched, providing users with greater satisfaction.\u00a0 These functionalities are already available with feature pack FP2405.<\/p>\n

New GenAI functionalities will be added to SAP Business One<\/h2>\n

Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen-AI) has revolutionized the way users generate content, but there are numerous opportunities for application in business processes within SAP Business One. The integration of AI into SAP Business One is not new, as the system has benefited from RPA technology since 2022.<\/p>\n

In SAP’s vision, GenAI allows the transformation of any business process by generating and automating digital processes for customers, employees, and assets. The best metrics from the SAP ecosystem indicate that using GenAI can lead to a 75% reduction in effort and an 85% reduction in costs, with a tenfold improvement in employee productivity. Multiple case studies and usage scenarios were presented at the event to validate this direction. We will most likely see such functionalities starting with SAP Business One Version 11, which will be available in the near future.<\/p>\n

Conclusions<\/h2>\n

SAP understands the needs of SMEs worldwide and makes SAP Business One the cornerstone solution for this sector. Moreover, it will continuously invest in SAP Business One to be a modern solution suitable for all generations of users, especially Generation Z, which by 2030 will represent about 50%. Thus, there is a development plan for SAP solutions to be suitable for digital natives, oriented towards AI, mobile devices, and wearable technologies.<\/p>\n
